Geisha Girl, Encaustic Collage

I was inspired by this vintage image and had the wonderful rice paper with the Japanese writing on it to go along with it.
I love working with the beeswax collage. It is so immediate and has that amazing depth and texture. I have been making my own medium with beeswax and  Damar resin. I will soon have to go in search of a local apiary.

Dream, Encaustic Collage

I really enjoyed doing this Encaustic Collage.  The vintage image of the little girl is sweet, she has such a dreamy look on her face.  I can totally relate as I spent many hours daydreaming as a child.
It is a 10" x 10" cradled panel.  I finished the edges with the black lace.  I am really enjoying the use of buttons and how they work with the wax -they don't have that glued on look like they do with acrylic. The word Dream is done with a Rub On which works so cool and is so much easier than doing a transfer.

Nick Bantock Tribute

Let Me Be Free to Spread My Wings.

This is the tribute I did for the Nick Bantock Contest.  It has photo transfers and collage elements including stamps , maps and wire screen.
I used TAP transfer paper for the transfers, it worked great on the watercolor paper. It is a 5" x 7" image.

Copper Labyrinth by Patt Scrivener

Copper and circles are my latest passion.  (as well as the maple walnut ice cream that  I am eating to cool down in this 36 degree heat wave)  It is even to hot to paint! My studio looks like a tornado went through after getting ready for last weekends Originals Only Show. I haven't had the energy to get in there and regroup but tomorrow I will have to as I have submissions to get ready as well as an upcoming market.
